About Jose Vega & K9 Manual Therapy

I have been working with people with Integrative Functional Manual Therapy for over a decade. Over this time, I have successfully helped several of my client’s dogs recover from injuries and heal from chronic pain. It is these stories and people that encouraged me to open my doors to dog owners. Dogs are our loyal companions that, like us, also deserve to live a happy, pain-free life.

Integrative Functional Manual Therapy is the use of our hands to direct force into the soft tissues of the body. This specific direct force imparts change into the soft tissues down to the cellular level. Taking the philosophy and approach of Integrative Functional Manual Therapy and applying it to canine anatomy and physiology is the genesis of K9 Manual Therapy. I hope that K9 Manual Therapy can help dogs that have otherwise had no relief.

Just like humans, dogs need touch. Specific manual techniques can be utilized to alleviate different kinds of pain and dysfunction. K9 Manual Therapy can be considered a branch of canine massage therapy. It focuses on the optimization of movement, the improvement of health, and the alleviation of chronic muscular pain in dogs through specific soft tissue techniques.

A typical K9 Manual Therapy appointment will last 20-30 minutes. It will consist of gait analysis and hands-on work. All work will be performed on the floor or a table depending on what works best for the dog. Much like people, chronic conditions may require several follow-up appointments. For acute issues, a series of two follow-up visits are common.
